Risk it All with Fentanyl Campaign Featured in National Summit Addressing Opioid Epidemic

The opioid epidemic continues to impact communities across the country, including here in the City of Henderson. Every year, the Rx and Illicit Drug Summit brings together more than 3,000 experts for the largest national collaboration of professionals to share strategies and success stories to combat this ongoing crisis. This year, the City of Henderson had the honor of featuring the “Risk it All with Fentanyl” awareness campaign poster, as well as having the City’s very own, Lisa Kelso, participate in a panel presentation.

The poster presentation was a standout entry among the 101 participants, capturing the attention of attendees throughout the event and prompting questions during the multiple sessions. It sparked discussions by representatives of other jurisdictions about efforts to start youth preventions campaigns in their areas and some showed interest in using the Risk it All with Fentanyl campaign to engage with youth in their communities, making this a successful effort.

Additionally, Lisa Kelso with City of Henderson’s Community Development and Services team, alongside Matt Kovacich with Las Vegas Metro Police Department (LVMPD) and Connie Patterson with High Intensity Drug Trafficking Areas (HIDTA), were part of the “Overdose and Crisis Response in Southern Nevada” panel presentation. The session welcomed nearly 200 attendees to hear from these local leaders about how their respective agencies are responding to the opioid epidemic and behavioral health crises in their communities within Southern Nevada.

The dedication and effort to combat the opioid epidemic by thousands of professionals throughout the nation is encouraging and inspiring. Remember to continue to learn all you can, share what you learn and together we can save lives.
